Drozdova & Partners Law Firm assisted dead person’s relatives to right a wrong before the ECHR
Drozdova & Partners Law Firm experts assisted the family of a person who died because of a crime to establish a violation of the Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms and to obtain compensation before the ECHR.
The European Court of Human Rights established the government’s violation of Article 2 (Right to Life) of the Convention in terms of conducting effective investigation into a crime.
Law firm Director Olena Drozdova who prepared an application to the ECHR for the client pointed out that the Strasbourg-based court finds 95% of applications to be inadmissible for procedural reasons.
‘Given that an application found to be inadmissible does not suspend the running of the six-month period designed for filing a complaint with the ECHR, the applicant virtually has no time to alter the application. Therefore, a person is given the only chance to challenge judgments delivered at the domestic level,’ the lawyer pointed out.
