Olena Drozdova tells how to hire babysitter and receive compensation from Government

At one of the recent meetings of the Cabinet Prime-Minister Volodymyr Groysman has announced that families waiting for a child will soon be able to count on additional financial aid from the Government. In particular, families that hire babysitters will receive a monthly compensation of UAH 1.5 k if the babysitter is officially employed.

Ukrinform has asked Drozdova & Partners Law Firm Director Ms Olena Drozdova to tell about what we should expect from still unusual employment of babysitters.

The advocate pointed out that labour relations between the employer and the employee must be set out in a labour contract in accordance with the Ukrainian Labour Code. In the case of labour contracts with babysitters, employers are individuals (parents or one of them) and, therefore, such contracts must be executed in writing in accordance with Article 24(6) of the Code. When executing the contract, the future babysitter must produce his or her passport or another identity document, employment record book, education certificate (where required), medical certificate and other documents.
